| Charis247 Quick Ref FAQ
 |
Let me explain...No, there is too much.
Let me sum up... |
Q: What is Charis247?
A: We’re a missional church community of the Anglican Church of North America.
Q: What does “missional” mean?
A: That we try to remember that church isn’t a place, it’s a people.
Q: I don’t get it.
A: Well, we’re saying that church isn’t a place we go on Sunday but a life that we live everyday. Jesus told us to love God, each other and the community that we are a part of. For us, doing that is church.
Q: So you don’t meet then?
A: Sure, we meet every week.
Q: How is that different from other churches?
A: We’re not saying that we’re different. It’s just the way that we try to keep first things first. Love has consequence. Where it is practiced, restoration and healing will result and so a loving community of Jesus-learners will live in a way that tries to meet the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and material needs of those around them. And if we’re going to do that, we have to be connected to the community that we’re a part of.
Q: Sounds pretty basic.
A: Yes, but not always easy!
Q: What about the CCDF? (Coraopolis Community Development Foundation)
A: The CCDF is the way we focus our action in the community. It is a service arm of the church but was set up as an independent foundation so that anyone could feel able to participate without being a part of the church.
Q: Anything Else?
A: We want to be a community marked by two things: prayer and service. One is inner work, the other is outer work. They need each other.
